2 Peter 2:20
If they have escaped the corruption of the
world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it
and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the
beginning.

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud
of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily
beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us
Getting all caught up in projects and things that are not spiritual
can become a real weight to someone as they run this Christian race. Many of
God's people get so involved in projects and things that those things become a
distraction. Rather than helping in our walk with the Lord, those things occupy
our mind and time.
When you get so involved with projects and activities — even in
natural, everyday things — if you allow yourself, your mind and time become all
taken up with those things and away from the things of God.
WARNING: ANYTHING
CAN BECOME AN ENTAGLEMENT!
This is something you want to be very careful to watch out for.
We should be very, careful not to allow
ourselves to get in that place where anything takes priority in our life above
the things of God.
When a child of God gets so deeply involved in
things that are not Christ like, they are walking on dangerous ground. It
becomes a great hindrance to their faith, an idol, and a great hindrance to their testimony, and a
great hindrance to the development of our soul.
As I write this blog, I am thinking about a
sermon I recently shared and one I would ask you to review entitled: CULTURE CLASH! In that sermon, I discuss the idea of being
in the world but not of it.
