 Question:  Is there anything in your life you cannot give up to follow Jesus Christ?

Theme: God will reign judgment down  on the unrighteousness that He has denounced

Statement of Truth:

You cannot overpower the power of God

Life Lessons

1.      Human defenses are useless against the power of God

2.     Whenever you ridicule others you are filled with a mean spirit

3.     Eternal justice will prevail

4.     Pride goes before a fall

5.     Gloating over one another’s misfortunes is criminal

6.    Victory always belongs to the Lord

Verse 5 & 11 ask:   “Why are you cast down, O my soul?”

Understanding Cast Sheep

·      How does a sheep become cast?

·      How do you keep this from happening again?

1. Tenderness

2. Rebuke

3. Compassion

4. Correction   {and there is}

5. “Discipline”- break a leg

MAJOR PROBLEM {s} WITH CAST SHEEP

1.      They can’t follow the Shepherd

2.     Isolated from the flock

3.     They become very easy prey

4.     They personally suffer from being in this position

5.     Sheep can’t help each other back on their feet

A Heart For Souls

Matthew 9:32-38

Theme:  For the follower of Christ to develop a heart for the lost souls around them.

Statement of Truth:

It is not the size of the crowd that matters it is the right crowd.

Three Types of Hearts revealed in this Passage:

I.               The condemned heart

·      The fact that this man was demon possessed was the root

·      The fact that this man was mute was the result

o   He could not speak to Christ

o   He could not speak for Christ

II.              The calloused heart

·      Religion without a relationship leaves one condemned

·      As you develop your heart for the Lord you will develop a heart for the Lost

III.            A compassionate heart

·      Are you filled with compassion?

·      Are you devoted to prayer?

·      Are you co-laboring for Christ?

Pursuit of Holiness

Isaiah 6:1-6

I.               GOD IS INFINITE IN HIS HOLINESS

Statement of Truth:

God's holiness is the central defining characteristic of His nature.

II.              GOD’S HOLINESS REVEALS OUR SINFULNESS

Statement of Truth:

God is an all-consuming being.  If one is unprepared, if one is unprotected, than it is a very scary thing to be in the presence of God.

III.            GOD CALLS US TO HOLINESS 

  

Statement of Truth:

God was and is concerned over the impurities in our lives.

IV.            GOD CLEANSES US FOR HOLINESS 

Statement of Truth:

Once cleansed God desires for us to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord.
