Jesus is Alive: Can You See it?

Luke 24:13-34

THEME: For the hearer to act upon the burning deep within, that we might testify to the risen Saviour!

Point To Ponder:  Only God can open our eyes!  It is not a song, a sermon or a tee-shirt that saves us!  Jesus is risen may we see and do as He leads!

I.  Jesus Christ is Alive:

He is moving toward those who cannot see him

Question to Consider:
Why did these men walk away unseeing?

1.  It was not because they were not interested

2.  It was not because they did not have all the facts

3.  They walked away because in their sin they were dead

4.  They walked aways because their hopes had been crushed

II.  Jesus Christ is Alive:

He is proving himself to those who won’t see it

Statement of Truth:

In physical seeing you get higher to see more.  However in spiritual seeing you get lower to see more.

Questions to Consider:

1.  Can you see what God sees?

2.  What are your burning passions?  Are you using them in the kingdom work?

3.  If you believe Christ has risen are you giving testimony?

4.  How can you respond daily to the truth that God gives you?

Luke 24:13-34

THEME: Recognition of Jesus only comes when God opens our eyes.

I.  Jesus Christ is Alive

1. Have you ever tried to force a witnessing moment into a decision moment that God did not honor?   What can we learn from these verses to help us be better witnesses for Him?
2. What are some other reasons people walk away in blindness?
3. We are in a war with the god of this world.  What are you doing to engage the enemy in spiritual warfare?
4. Who is it that God is asking you to move toward as He prepares them to respond?  Will you obey?

Christ Died For Me
John 19: 1-8

THEME:  For the hearer to know and appreciate that God has done so much to provide the gift of salvation.  

Point To Ponder:  Substitutionary atonement is the heartbeat of the Gospel.  It simply means that Christ died in my place. 

 I.  Jesus Was Tortured As He died for me

A. The Flogging

II.  Jesus Was Mocked as He died for me

Statement of Truth:

The one who appears to have all control,  has no control. 
The one who appears to have no control has all control.  

III.   Jesus fulfilled prophecy as He suffered for my sin.

Christ Suffers For Me
John 19: 1-8

THEME:  For the hearer to know and appreciate that God has done so much to provide the gift of salvation.

• They mocked His kingship
• They mocked his deity

THEME:  To apply the past five weeks to real  every day life.

Word of Warning:

Do not Harden your heart.  Wilderness wandering creates a hard heart among the people of God.  

Questions to Discuss and Review:

1. Why do you think people are content to stay in the desert? 
2. Did the Israelites loose their salvation when the turned back into the desert?
3. Joshua and Caleb saw the promise land.  What was it that enabled them to live with the others in the wilderness?
4. In what ways are you trying to complete by the flesh what was meant to accomplish in the Spirit?
5. Did Joshua and Caleb find the much more life in the wilderness?
6. How do we strengthen the resolve for Christ to live through us?  (Philippians 3:13-14)

Statement of Truth:

It’s not the truth you know that makes a difference, but the truth that you obey.

The most important thought you could ever think is what you think when you think about God because what you think when you think about God effects everything you think!

The Promise Comes By Faith

Romans 4:13-25

Theme:  To know the promise of righteousness that comes though a life of faith.

Question: What is faith?

Write Your Answer: 

1. What Faith is Not:

• Faith is not believing something that you already know is true
  
• Faith is not disregard for the truth
  
• Faith is not a feeling
  
  

1. What is Faith:

• Faith is believing God and acting upon it
  
• Faith is trusting in the promises of God and leaning upon them
  
•   What Faith Does:
• Faith brings us into the favor of God
  
• Faith brings us into the family of God

Questions to Consider?
1.   When you face a crisis in life:  How big is your God?

2.  Do you find yourself always wanting to live in what you know, rather than trusting God in the moments you don’t know.

3.  In what ways today are you acting upon what you know to be true?

4.  What lessons have you learned when you have leaned on God’s Promises?

Canaan:  Christ Through Me

Romans 5:10 

THEME:  For the believer to know that God desires for them to live life in the land flowing with milk and honey

Point To Ponder:  Not only can you not provide your salvation.  but you cannot  provide your sanctification either

The Major Question to Consider:  What is the Canaan Life?  

1.   Spirit Controlled Living

Point to Ponder:  The life that condemned us now saved us

Key to Victory:  The Christian life is the life that He lived then, is lived now by Him in you

The Problem: The life He lived then you can’t live!   WHY?  because you are not him

STATEMENT OF TRUTH:

You must have what He is (life) to be what He was (perfect)

        II.  Christ Righteousness Not Self-Righteousness

Word of Warning:

Self- righteousness will lead you to think that you are better than others and you will develop the attitude of the  Pharisees.

Remember: Godliness is not the consequence of your capacity to imitate God, but the consequence of His capacity to reproduce Himself in you; not self-righteousness, but Christ righteousness. 

       III.  A Battle To Be Won

Remember:  We are in it to win it

STATEMENT OF TRUTH:

People have uphill hopes and downhill habits

Key to Victory:  Faith!  Unbelief keeps you in defeat
