2-19-14WED Sermon notes

God The Sender
John 1

THEME:   Missional all is an important word because it doesn't describe what we do as Christ followers; it describes who we are as Christ followers

Question for Consideration:
Have you ever considered God as a sender?

I.               RETURN TO SENDER

STATEMENT OF TRUTH:
If we want to follow God's will, if we want to fall in line with the Biblical story, and if we truly want to be followers of Jesus in this world, then we need to understand God's sending and respond to it.

II.              CAN I GET A WITNESS?

Statement of Truth:
Our success should not be found in “results” but in our obedience

III.            Coming and Going

Questions for Consideration:

                1.      What are the implications concerning the sending nature of God?
                2.     How are some ways that Christians confuse the idea of mission?
                3.     How do you measure success?  How do you think God measures it?
                4.     I noted several Scriptural references when God acted as a sender, can you think of any others?
                5.     How often do you consider yourself sent?
                6.     What does the word "witness" mean to you?
                7.     How would you characterize your relationship with the Holy Spirit?
                8.     How important should the act of sending beat the local church?
                9.     Why do you think being sent is neglected in many local churches?

               10.   What can we do to reclaim this  characteristic in our church?
