Forgiveness is Foundational in Powerful Praying

Prayer is essential part of our Christian life.  It is important that each of us learn to pray.  It is important that we not only learn how to pray but that we learn to pray with power.  We must learn to pray in the spirit and to pray in truth and to pray in the will of God.

I am convinced that nothing lies beyond the reach of prayer,  except that which lies outside the will of God.  We must pray in wisdom and discernment.

There are two twin themes running through the words of Jesus to his disciples in Mark 11:25 and following.

The first theme found in this passage is for the follower of Jesus to Pray prayers rooted in FAITH in God.   Prayers offered in faith are the only ones that will move mountains.

By virtue of that faith we must believe what is being prayed for will come to pass.  Faith and belief are found working hand in hand.

So this Idea of belief is foundational to our prayers.  The second theme mentioned is the theme of FORGIVENESS.

I can tell you why some people do not have their prayers answered.  They have bitterness and unforgiveness in their hearts!

Forgiveness is the message of the Bible.  We are called to forgive, because God forgave us!

Over in Matthew, Chapter 6 in the Lord’s Prayer it is clear:  If you forgive others for their sins your heavenly father will also forgive you.  But if you do not forgive you will not be forgiven.
