Sacrificial Love, Loves Sacrificially

1 John 1:10-2:2

Theme:  The Love of God sacrifices

Statement of Truth:

My son-ship and relationship with the Heavenly Father is not based on my performance, but by His promises and power. 

Indwelling Sin Leads  To:

1.      Lie to Others

2.     Lie to yourself

3.     Lie about God

I.       THE APOSTLE’S AFFECTION

2 Possible Misapprehensions:

a.    If sin is a reality and it is impossible for me to live a sinless life, why bother.

b.    As a Christian, I have liberty and am no longer under the law, so I can do what I want to do.

Statement of Truth:

Christians are saved from sin, not to sin.

II.        THE APOSTLE’S ADVOCATE

a.     Comforter

b.    Counselor

c.     Consoler

d.    Convictor

III. THE APOSTLE’S ATONEMENT

No one is beyond reach.  God’s arm is long, and He extends it across the earth every day!

1 John 3:16-18

Theme:  For the believer to understand that the cross of Christ calls us to divine responsibility. 

Enemies of Love:

             1.      Selfishness

             2.     Lust

             3.     Bitterness

             4.     Greed

             5.     Pride

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not just a story I read, it is a life I lead!

II.   God’s love calls me to participate v17

 A.    Love Is Practical

 C.    Love’s Perception

 D.    Love Has Possibilities

 E.     Love Should Be Portioned  {Love Shares}

III.  God’s Love is being perfected in us  {1 John 4:12}
